Whetstone & Oil

Dedication. Sincerity. Compassion.

God’s word is in fact, the first building block of knowledge. Ancient quests for eternal life and spiritual enlightenment have all taken form of religion. In each religion is a warrior’s code. The Holy Bible provides every necessary tool for us to keep our minds sharp and our faith rustless.

God’s word is the sword that we only hope to carry in its beautiful fullness. It takes years and hundreds of hours of devotion to study. Everyday, children must awaken with their parents and have a chance to deeply and chronologically, in their own lives, relate with the word of God. Parents, especially mothers, have this divine duty to educate their children without frustration but with a love of learning, dedication, sincerity, and compassion. Our souls must be strong enough to handle the fire of God’s word day in and day out. Even if our husbands are gone on business for days or months at a time.

It is not difficult for a child to sit for one hour a day to hear his mother read God’s holy word. No, in fact, every child gains something from Hoon Dok Hae: Daily Scripture Reading gives form and distinction to their life character. Children are capable of watching TV for three-hours straight before they get restless. It is the sincere, compassionate, dutiful, and dedicated mother who will unfailingly wear her robes as a providential teacher to create the daily perfect environment for her children to attribute their time—one hour a day—to the greeting and spoken substance of God’s word. Mothers should never gossip but only speak in truth.

In the tradition of the Messiah’s 5AM Hoon Dok Hae readings, soon, children begin to develop strength in God’s faith. We shall not neglect the Princes and Princesses of Heavenly Father here on this earth even if fallen parents have done worse to us. Everyday, our swords are whet upon the whetstone and oiled before sheathing to prevent decay and rust. So too, our minds must be sharpened against God’s word. His absolute love, life and lineage covers our spirits in oil. Daily scripture readings provide health in both exercise and nutrition to our souls so that our own faith in God may never rust.

DPconversations Podcast

Absolute love | Absolute faith | Absolute obedience

Rev. Sun Myung Moon always used to refer to these three terms to describe our relationship with God. It was an honor for me to attend True Father Sun Myung Moon during morning Hoon Dok Hae meetings, which, I discuss in my podcast.

For the longest time, I had wanted to start a DPconversations podcast as I had felt awkward reading long portions of text to you, my audience, on YouTube videos.

So this short article allows for a new series of articles “DPconversations Podcast” accompanied with recorded and downloadable readings from the Cheon Seong Gyeong of Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon’s canonized texts. When you listen to the audio, I hope you enjoy my ramblings and thoughts on the text, similar to the way it was shared with me by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon himself!

NEEDED: Cooperation of God’s People

As we build the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth with the Kingship of God in our Blessed Holy Marriages we must not always be so keen to point out the speck in our brother’s eye when we have a plank in our own. As we forgive each other for our short-sightedness in matters of Providence we also find ways to appreciate each other’s families and missions.

DPconversations videos have come to an end. Every video should have a nugget of biblical faith tucked away inside for viewers, as well as the truth of the Kingdom of God. The videos are one ribbon of many that can tie fabulously into a beautiful resounding testimony of brothers and sisters who have been saved in the name of Jesus as True Parents.

It is always the will of Jesus to give himself up for humanity and allow us to to owe no cost for living well in God’s grace. The glory of Jesus is in every beautiful child and Blessed Central family who keep faith and honor the logic and truth of God’s existence in their lives. It is in these United States of America that the Messiah Jesus at his Second Coming in Rev. Sun Myung Moon spent over 40 years of his life. He often did not find time to rest because he poured every moment into others.

Everyday that passes without Jesus here on earth must not be shrouded in darkness and chaos. The universe has an order and the truth of Jesus too has an order. The sun rises and sets; the moon rises and sets. Sun and Moon cooperate and make sense. In giving God glory, not one of us can completely replace Jesus or attempt to mimic his Glory and majesty by ‘myself,’ alone. It is only with the responsibilities that each one of us fulfills as priest, musician, writer, teacher, so-on-and-so-forth, that His Glory is mirrored back to Him.

May the Kingdom of God be established in the Holy name of Jesus as His true Jerusalem, and quickly.

Macro vs. Microeconomics In Esau and Jacob

Scarcity is when resources are limited and people must allocate their resources according to the results they want. When we compare Esau and Jacob their economic choices differ enormously. Genesis 26 clearly illustrates Esau’s focus on the Kingships of his clan whereas Genesis 33-35 show Jacob’s investment into his personal relationship with God and Rachel. Their economic choices may be understood as examples of macro vs. microeconomics.

Edom is Esau’s line of descendants that are not Israelites. In other words, Esau gave up on God and focused his energy on creating His own power-line of rulers. It is evident that the tradition Esau established for his descendants was to be a succession of kings. He must have been extremely upset at having sold his birthright to Jacob and had decided to prove himself to all that he was still the best and deserving son of his father Issac’s lineage.

“These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:” Genesis 36:31 NIV

Whether he was considered an Israelite or not, Esau did produce results with his efforts. He created his own line of kingship separate from God, and it was called Edom. Edom was an achievement that went beyond Esau’s personal daily life and eventual death. His kingdom was an economic concept over a large amount of people space and time: macroeconomics. However great Esau’s achievements were, they had all faded from societal relevance by the time Joseph, the eleventh son of Jacob ruled Egypt as the Pharaoh’s right hand man.

Jacob was the predecessor of Joseph who was the legal guardian of Jesus. God decided to work through Jacob in the covenant He had made with Abraham. In the three generations of Abraham Issac and Jacob, the provision of faithful servant-hood was established between God and man.

“God said to him, ‘Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.’ So he named him Israel.” Genesis 35:10 NIV

As the Master of Israel, God worked personally within Jacob’s love life and lineage that eventually brought forth Adam’s resurrected form: Jesus. Jacob had been established as Israel according to dreams and words that he had received from God. Likewise, Joseph experienced God’s presence and words to guide Israel into the New Testament Age with Jesus’s fulfillment of Judaic prophesy and law. (Matthew 1:23, 2:18, 2:23) These men did work as God’s humble servants and son who wrought achievements that were personal specific and profoundly micro economic.

Although without planning or foresight, Jacob’s actions of faith throughout his life resulted in Joseph ruling Egypt and eventually Moses leading the Jewish people to freedom. Joseph’s faithful and personal protection of Jesus led to the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven in spirit. Eventually, Jesus returned in Sun Myung Moon to accomplish the reversal of physical sin. (Matthew 11:14) Mankind now enters the Kingship realm of God through Jesus that the Kingdom of Heaven may exist on earth. Laws of deduction reveal that God’s micro economic works of faith always develop into astronomically macroeconomic power.
